DA RFO 2 INSTITUTIONALIZES PRDP TOOLS AND PROCESSES

Date Published: August 19, 2020

The Department of Agriculture Regional Field Office 2 (DA RFO 2) has intensified its effort to mainstream and institutionalize the tools of the Philippine Rural Development Project (PRDP) in its regular and banner programs.

“It is incumbent upon us to use the tools and processes of the PRDP to strengthen our advocacy in our roles in serving the agri-fishery sector. Let us focus on making our own regional roadmap. Let us identify the crops and products that are planted and thrive bountifully in every province in Region 2, aside from the national roadmap,” RTD Rose Mary G. Aquino said in her message during the second round of workshop in mainstreaming the PRDP tools.

“Our first step will be commodity prioritization. It will be easier for us to move on to the next phase as we identify the different tools and processes we really need in our functions,” Ms. Kay Olivas, PMED chief and I-PLAN, SES head said.

In attendance are ROS Managers and heads, regular employees, and key persons in banner programs in the regional office.

The PRDP is a World Bank –assisted national project under the Department of Agriculture that aims to establish a modern, inclusive, value chain-oriented and climate smart agriculture and fishery sector.

The World Bank Task Team led by Mr. Eli Weiss visited Cagayan Valley via virtual tour or webex teleconferencing during its 10th implementation support mission on June 15-21, 2020 and assessed the Dairy Carabao Enterprise in San Agustin, Isabela.

The 10th World Bank implementation support mission evaluated the progress of subprojects towards the achievement of the Project Development and Global Environmental objectives. It also evaluated the progress of key performance indicators, assessed the impacts of the subprojects as well as the status of compliance with legal covenants, review of safeguard activities and performance, and review of the financial management performance including the procurement activity of the Project. (Ferdinand N Cortez, RPCO2 InfoACE Unit)
