Highland vegetable farmers in Alegria, Cebu receive delivery and hauling trucks from DA-PRDP
To ensure the smooth operation and success of a project, a ceremonial turnover of the Php6.3 million worth of delivery and hauling trucks was recently held in the Municipality of Alegria, Cebu. These vehicles are a support to the United People’s Organization Highland Vegetables Production and Trading Enterprise (UPOHVPTE)
For Alegria Mayor-Elect Dr. Gilbert Magallon and Vice Mayor-Elect Verna Magallon, teamwork must always be the core for the six identified people’s organization to safeguard the enterprise and the up keeping of the vehicles.
“This is our livelihood, this is in line with your farming career, and these (trucks) are what you truly need,” said Mayor Magallon.
Vice Mayor Magallon also said that “we can’t afford to be complacent. Our dream is to become the organic vegetable basket in the southwestern part of Cebu Province and improve our agriculture in the entire municipality.”
Aside from the local chief executives, also present during the event are representatives from the Department of Agriculture – Philippine Rural Development Project Regional Project Coordination Office 7; key personnel from the Municipal Project Management and Implementing Unit of Alegria (MPMIU), and the chairpersons from Lepantohanong Hugpong sa Kalamboan (LEHUK); Sta. Filomena Farmers and Fisherfolk Association (SFFFA); Valencia Inghoy Farmers Associations (VIFA); Guadalupe Farmers Association (GUFA); Compostela Farmers Association (COMFA), and Mag-uumang Lumulopyo sa Montpeller (MALUMO).
