Sto. Domingo Onion Enterprise receives Onion Hanger infrastructure

Sto. Domingo, Nueva Ecija – Two farmer cooperatives received the Onion Hanger infrastructure from the Philippine Rural Development Project (PRDP) in the inauguration and turn-over ceremony held last January 26, 2018.

The Onion Hanger was built in Brgy. Malaya Sto. Domingo, Nueva Ecija and will be used by St. Dominic Farmers Enterprise as a facility for storing, consolidating, sorting and bagging of onions and other hand vegetables. The 153 farmer-members of the Pulong Buli Multi-Purpose Cooperative and St. Dominic Farmers Cooperative are the beneficiaries of the project.

The two-storey 7,800 sq. m infrastructure has a total construction cost of P3,271, 735.98, 80% of the total budget came from World Bank, 10% the Government of the Philippines (GOP) and the other 10% from the Local Government of Nueva Ecija.

Aside from the marketing of onion, other produce such as squash, eggplant and string beans will be the source of income for the enterprise.

An inauguration and turn-over ceremony was held last January 26, 2018. The certificate of turn-over was handed to the Chairman of Pulong Buli MPC Mr. Primo Natividad. Members of the two cooperatives were also in attendance.

Moreover, in his message RPCO3 Alternate Focal Person Engr. Gil David reminded the beneficiaries of the project to take care of the well-being of the infrastructure.
