RPCO9 conducts PRDP orientation to reconstituted CPMIU

Zamboanga City – Department of Agriculture Philippine Rural Development Project through Regional Project Coordination Office IX (RPCO-IX) conducted orientation activity to Zamboanga City Project Management and Implementation Unit (CPMIU).

Recently, Zamboanga City Mayor Maria Isabelle G. Climaco-Salazar reconstituted the CPMIU through Executive Order No. BC-613-2020. In order to catch up with the PRDP project implementation, RPCO IX provided them with orientation about the project.

This is how DA-PRDP build good relationship with its partner local government units.

Deputy Project Director Ferdinand D. Gamorot discussed the overview on how the PRDP is carried out through its four major components such as I-PLAN, I-REAP, I-BUILD and I-SUPPORT.

Engr. Juanito Taripe, Jr, from I-BUILD component, presented the documentary and technical requirements in proposing for an I-BUILD subproject. SES Specialist Meneo Folgo and Associate Safeguards Officer Rammel Lasagas also presented the social and environmental safeguard (SES) requirements of PRDP. Meanwhile, Economist Jonah Lyn Corpuz discussed the nitty-gritty in Feasibility studies.

Governance and Geomapping Unit head Heriberto Payopelin, Jr. highlighted in his discussion the importance of geo-tagging and mapping of proposed subproject location and coordinates to eliminate issue of overlapping and redundancy of subproject.

Based on EO No. BC-613-2020, the CPMIU of Zamboanga City will be headed by City Administrator Marie C. Go; City Planning and Development Coordinator Rodrigo Sicat for the I-PLAN component, City Agriculturist Carmencita Sanchez for the  I-REAP component, and City Engineer Christopher Navarro for the I-BUILD component.

The seven I-SUPPORT Unit heads are City Environment and Natural Resources Officer Reynaldo Gonzales and City Social Welfare and Development Officer Socorro Rojas for SES; City Budget Officer Geraldine dela Paz as finance unit head; Ludwig Look for GGU; Jessie Christopher Lapinid together with Engr. Erwin Kalayan for Monitoring and Evaluation unit; General Services Officer Rene dela Cruz for Procurement; Public Information Officer Shiela Covarrubias for InfoACE unit; and 7) City Legal Officer Jesus Carbon, Jr. for Grievance and Redress Mechanism unit.

While enrolled with DA-PRDP, the CPMIU shall assist in the social assessment of the city relative to identification and social preparation of beneficiaries. It manages the overall subproject implementation at the LGU level; provides capacity building support to LGU beneficiaries and proponent groups. Also conducts implementation assessment and prepares then submit reports to the RPCO

To date, Zamboanga city already have one approved enterprise development subproject on seaweeds production and marketing enterprise. Its implementation will soon commence upon receipt of DA-PRDP funds from Project Support Office.
