Quirino kicks off construction of PRJ-Lusod- Manglad FMR

Lusod, Maddela – Quirino has topped other provinces in Cagayan Valley as to the number of farm-to-market roads (FMR’s) funded under the Philippine Rural Development Project (PRDP), both accomplished and ongoing.

Provincial Engineer Ireneo Benavides bared during the groundbreaking ceremonies of the 6 km- road PRJ-Lusod-Manglad, Quirino’s 7th FMR. With a project cost of 52. 7 million pesos, the road directly supports coffee grown in the area. Other crops include garlic, galliang, ginger, corn, tuber, and rice.

NRJ- Palacian- Ramos and NRJ-Ligaya-Pagaduan FMRs in Aglipay; PRJ-Dibibi-Dingasan in Cabarroguis and NRJ-Maria Clara-Gabriela Silang in Diffun have already been turned over to the beneficiaries and scheduled to be visited by the Regional Operations and Maintenance Audit Team (ROMAT) for assessment.

The 5th FMR, NRJ-Gamis-Banuar-Calaocan is substantially completed with positive 22 slippages while construction of the 6th, Ricarte-Magsaysay, is on-going.

Meanwhile, Hon. Gov. Dakila Cua said he will see to it that the Lusod-Manglad FMR will be properly implemented to benefit the residents of Maddela. His father, now Congressman Junie Cua is known for his hands-on supervision on PRDP subprojects.

The Regional Project Coordination Office 2 (RPCO 2) was represented by Engr. Restituto Samatra, I-BUILD Component Head. The Rural Infrastructure Engineer (RIE) assigned to Lusod-Manglad FMR is Engr. Ulysses Viernes.

Engr. Dencio Pagbilao, the Provincial Project Management, and Implementing Unit (PPMIU) Head said they have high hopes that two (2) other FMR’s will be proposed and implemented under the additional Financing (AF) and FOREX. (Dr. Ferdinand N. Cortez, RPCO2 InfoACE)
