PRDP pours P248-M for SOCCSKSARGEN provinces

Region 12 obtains P248 million budget for its enterprise development project from the Department of Agriculture Philippine Rural Development Project (DA-PRDP).

A total of 17 projects which include five startup and 12 for upgrading and expansion are being implemented in all four provinces in the region.

North Cotabato currently has six enterprise projects worth P85 million which is divided to four commodities including banana lakatan worth P7 million,  rubber crumb worth P49 million, rubber sheet worth P5 million, organic rice worth P12 million, and cacao worth P12 million. These will benefit a total of 980 direct beneficiaries composed of farmers.

The province of Sarangani also has four subproject that cost P65 million that covers abaca commodity worth P19 million, coconut virgin coconut oil worth P37 million, and cacao worth P9 million and will benefit the 1,052 project beneficiaries.

Meanwhile South Cotabato  with 3,001 beneficiaries currently has 6 subprojects worth P87 million composed of  cacao worth P15 million, cassava (chips and granules) worth P28 million, coconut worth P4 million, coffee (green coffee beans) worth P7 million, coconut (oil) worth P3 million, and dairy cattle worth P31 million.

Sultan Kudarat has one subproject worth P10 million which is allotted for coffee (green coffee beans) with 200 beneficiaries.

We are thanking our LGU partners in Region 12 in the implementation of PRDP enterprise subprojects, because through the years, they are very proactive, said  Department of Agriculture Regional Executive Director Milagros Casis.

She also noted that the LGUs’ commitment in PRDP could be rooted to the inclusion of value chain analysis and the provincial commodity investment plan in the implementation as new good governance concepts.

The Investments in Rural Enterprise and Agriculture and Fisheries Productivity (IREAP) component of PRDP aims to engage broad sections of the sector in the production of marketable surplus through investments in strategic segments of priority commodity value chains and strengthening collaboration between DA and the Local Government Units. It shall strengthen and develop viable agri-fishery based enterprises through efficient value chain of key regional agri-fishery product.

Overall these projects will benefit provide support to the 5,233 individual beneficiaries from SOCCSKSARGEN.
