PRDP completes more infra projects on its 4th year implementation

The Department of Agriculture- Philippine Rural Development Project now completed 69 infrastructure projects worth P2.176 billion under the Intensified Building Up of Infrastructure and Logistics for Development (IBUILD) component.

The said amount was divided to 61 farm-to-market roads with a combined length of 198.75 kilometers  worth P2.039 billion; 2 FMRs with bridge with 5.50 km combined length and 69 linear meter amounting to P92.27 M; 3 potable water supply (level 2) worth P20.38 M; and 3 other infrastructure projects that support the enterprise development component worth P24.30 M.

Among the six regions, Region 12 ranked the highest completed subprojects based on cost with P609.39 million, followed by Region 10 with P483.05 million, Region 11 with P415.86 million, Region 9 with 372.78 million, Region 12 with 202.64 million, and ARMM with P92.41 million.

“After the road was concreted, farmers here are already expanding their farms. They are now more inspired to plant and produce,” said banana farmer Arnel Abayon of Linan, Tupi South Cotabato.

The completion of farm road now benefitted a total of 729,757 individual farmers or 171, 497 household composed of over 350,000 women. The improved road networks now links the production area and the market which enhance efficiency of transporting agri-fishery products and reduced postharvest losses.

“We can now easily reach Tupi. Before, we travel for almost an hour because of the bad road condition. But now, we can reach the market for just almost half an hour,” said Ruby Ann D. Yana of Brgy. Cebuano.

According to PRDP Deputy Project Director Danilo T. Alesna, Mindanao has P14.853 billion allocation for its 241 infrastructure project where 69 subprojects are completed while 78 are still ongoing and 94 are still on process.

“PRDP continue to fulfill its promise to elevate the lives of farmers by increasing their income through developing a more market-oriented agriculture and fishery sector.The implementation of various infrastructure supports under the IBUILD and IREAP component help in ensuring that our beneficiaries will receive the right support,” said Alesna.
