Date Published: July 29, 2020

Talavera, NUEVA ECIJA – The P38-M Poblacion Sur-La Torre- Bantug – Mamandil Farm-to-Market Road (FMR) is expected to provide better road network and increase productivity to farm-beneficiaries here upon its completion this year.

In a brief interview during a project monitoring on July 15-16, 2020 conducted by Rural Infrastructure Engineer Lester Bacual, he stated the improvement of the FMR will help farmers access markets, minimize post-harvest losses and gain vital services.

“The four barangays which are direct beneficiaries of the subproject have a total population of 12,940.  The primary source of livelihood here comes from agriculture,” Engr. Bacual added.

He also stressed that contractors have implemented strict compliance in managing the project and ensuring that workers can follow the government guidelines and practice safe social distancing on site.

At present, the FMR has attained 35% on its physical accomplishment and is set to be completed by September of this year.

Supported by the Department of Agriculture – Philippine Rural Development Project (DA-PRDP), the FMR is seen to improve the transport of agricultural products and increase job opportunity for local farmers.

Nueva Ecija being one of the agricultural top performers of the country has taken the initiative to greatly improve agricultural production and at the same time develop a vibrant agro-processing sector. (MA. REINA LEN G. LUNA, RPCO3 InfoACE)
