Date Published: January 12, 2021

Twice is the charm for the municipality of Lucban, Quezon when it was able to successfully defend and repackaged its farm-to-market road subproject with the Philippine Rural Development Project (PRDP). A preconstruction conference was conducted last December 3 and 4.

The “Concreting of Nalunao – Kalangay – Mahabang Parang – Aliliw – Kabatete – Piis FMR” subproject will have 12.65-km total length divided into three segments. Certain portions with existing concrete pavement will also be removed and replaced.

“I hope that with our new partner in construction, the dream of our residents for a better and safer road will be fulfilled. Rest assure that the municipality will do everything to ensure the successful completion of this road,” Mayor Celso Olivier Dator said during the conference.

Different processes and requirements were discussed by PRDP technical staff during the pre-construction conference. From the CALABARZON Regional Project Coordination Office, the presenters were Rural Infrastructure Engineer (RIE) Raffy Damati for Infrastructure Development (I-BUILD) concerns as well as Social and Environmental Safeguards (SES) Officer Cyrile Gabriel for SES concerns. Also present was RIE Nicyl Lacansandile as engineer-in-charge for the Lucban subproject.

Other presenters were from South Luzon Project Support Office. These include Procurement Unit Head Atty. Michael Gregory Vargas for procurement and compliance concerns, I-BUILD Component Head Engr. Allan Tatiera for other infrastructure concerns; and Finance Unit Head John Socito for financial concerns.

The contractor for the repackaged subproject is R.A. Mendiola Construction and Developer with a contract amounting to P74.88 million. A groundbreaking ceremony for the construction will be scheduled once the Notice to Proceed is released. # (Lawrence Albert Bariring, DA-PRDP CALABARZON RPCO InfoACE Unit)
