Date Published: January 27, 2020

Region 11 has now implemented 73 subprojects worth P4.48 billion under the Department of Agriculture-Philippine Rural Development Project (DA-PRDP).

Of the 73 subprojects, 55 are under the Intensified Building Up of Infrastructure and Logistics for Development (IBUILD) component worth P4.33 billion while 18 subprojects are under the Investments in Rural Enterprises and Agriculture and Fisheries Productivity (IREAP) component amounting to P149.60 million.

Overall, the region’s subproject portfolio includes 31 FMRs worth P3.43 billion with a total length of 241.7 kilometers; five (5) FMRs with bridges worth P740.19 million with a combined length of 44.19 km and 427.5 linear meters; 12 Potable Water Supply Level II worth P63.55 million; and 7 post harvest facilities worth P104.26 million.

For IREAP subprojects, Davao de Oro has three (3) subprojects worth P9.67 million; Davao del Norte has four (4) subprojects worth P43.72 million; Davao del Sur has seven (7) subprojects worth P63.71 million; Davao Occidental with one (1) subproject worth P8.89 million; and finally Davao Oriental with three (3) subprojects worth P23.62 million.

These IREAP subprojects have been implemented to support the champion commodities of the provinces in the region such as cacao, cardava banana, mango, seaweeds, and abaca.

To date, Region 11 through PRDP has already completed 12 farm-to-market roads, two (2) farm to market roads with bridges, three (3) Potable Water Supply Level II, while the rest are still in progress.

At the recent PRDP Operation Management Group Meeting, Region 11 received recognition for having the highest share in CY 2019 disbursement for IBUILD projects sharing 11% of the total disbursement.

Mindanao cluster also received the award for ranking number one in I-BUILD or infrastructure subproject completion with a total share of 46% to the overall number of completed subprojects.

These projects are implemented in partnership with the different Local Government Units (LGUs) and the private sector in order to provide key infrastructure, facilities, technology, and enterprise support.

The primary objective of PRDP is to reduce the binding constraints to development that lead to the current low rural incomes so that after the project will be implemented, there will be raise in income, productivity, and competitiveness in the countryside. (Joy Montecalvo/PRDP)
