Knowledge management helps an organization facilitate project communication, development, and organizational learning.

Through the initiative of Philippine Rural Development Project- Information, Advocacies, Communication, and Education (InfoACE) Unit, a network conference was conducted among the Mindanao cluster’s InfoACE Regional Project Coordination Offices and the provincial InfoACE Focal person.

“Knowledge management has a big role in ensuring proper management of the intellectual property of a company or an organization. A good KMS can help in leveraging expertise within the organization and will increase good communication internally and externally,” said Noel Provido, chief of DA XI Regional Agri-Fishery Information Service.

The activity included discussion on Knowledge Management Framework for Sustainable Development; Knowledge Learning, Creation and Sharing; and Platforms and tools.

DA XI Information chief  Noel Provido and InfoACE Unit Head Sherwin Manual facilitated the training-workshop.

Through series of group activity, the participants had drills on harvesting data, curating, organizing, producing and sharing knowledge and information.

“A KM framework ensures that all necessary elements (accountabilities, processes, technologies, and governance) are in place and interconnected. This ensures that there are no gaps in the system and that knowledge flows freely through the organization,” said Sherwin Manual.

Further, the workshop emphasized on ensuring that right and accurate information will be delivered properly to the end users, he added.

Participants applied “knowledge harvesting and sharing” during the visit to AMCG Farm which is a greenhouse technology demo farm in Toril, Davao City.

This activity also aims to strengthen the network of InfoACE focal in Mindanao and to keep with recent updates on project documentation and information management, and introduce a basic system of knowledge management that will help in generating valuable information for the Project.
