Cebu town ground breaks native chicken production facility

As part of the Department of Agriculture – Philippine Rural Development Project’s (DA-PRDP) objective to increase rural incomes and enhance farm and fishery projectivity, the DA-PRDP Regional Project Coordination Office -7 and the Province of Cebu officially broke ground its Php1.9 million worth of Native Chicken Production Facility in Catmon, Cebu on April 20, 2022.

The facility consists of seven (7) breeder houses, two (2) brooder houses, four (4) grow-out houses, and a hatchery house that will support the town’s Native Chicken Breeding, Production and Marketing Enterprise.
The start-up enterprise will initially benefit 58 farmer beneficiaries from the barangays of Tabili, Cabungaan, Duyan, Agsuwao, Macaas, Can-ibuang, Flores, Cambangkaya, Ginabucan, Panalipan,Tinabyonan and Bactas in Catmon for its first cycle.

Once operational, the Tabili Farmers Association aims at producing around 21, 845 native chickens and 17, 640 pieces of eggs annually.
