Pudtol FMR improvement set to begin following NOL2 issuance

Date Published: November 17, 2024

The Improvement of Cabatacan-San Mariano-San Jose Farm-to-Market Road (FMR) in Pudtol, Apayao is set to commence as the Department of Agriculture – Philippine Rural Development Project (DA-PRDP) Scale-Up granted the green light for contract awarding to the winning bidder.

The issuance of the No Objection Letter 2 (NOL2) officially authorizes the subproject to proceed with the winning bidder securing the contract valued at P145.61 million.

This subproject, proposed in support of the local banana cardava industry, will cover a span of 5.554 kilometers. Once completed, it is expected to benefit 502 households, encompassing 2,508 residents (1,169 male and 1,339 female) across the area.

The road will connect three barangays: Cabatacan, San Mariano, and San Jose, ensuring smoother and safer transportation for farmers and traders, especially during inclement weather. With the improved road, traders and processors from nearby provinces can easily and directly reach farmers’ groups and associations within the province. This access will provide producers with opportunities for better pricing, a stronger market presence, and improved income stability.

As part of the DA-PRDP implementation process, a pre-construction conference will soon be conducted to discuss specific implementation guidelines and processes including the requirements for disbursement, among others.//
