COSH Training for PRDP held

Cagayan de Oro City- Safety is everybody’s concern – said Engr. Edda Lydia M. Valdehueza, one of the speakers during the 5-day Construction and Occupational Health and Safety (COSH) Training conducted by the Department of Agriculture – Philippine Rural Development Project (DA-PRDP 10) thru the Social and Environmental Safeguards (SES) Unit on September 16-20, 2019 in Cagayan de Oro City.

The training aims to equip project partners and implementers on the construction and occupational health and safety of the workers and beneficiaries during the implementation of IBUILD and IREAP subprojects which involves civil works.

In an interview with Gay Nanette Aleria, SES Unit Head of DA-PRDP 10 explained that the said training is important to the people involved in subproject monitoring in order to correct what is needed to be fixed. “The contractors are being paid properly, thus it is our responsibility to monitor the project implementation to ensure the quality of the project, especially that we are now equipped with the skills in doing so. The quality of the project depends on the consideration we gave to the workers, and we have to make sure the safety and health of everyone involved”, Aleria added

The training was able to produce 50 Certified Safety Officers who were able to comply and passed the necessary requirements.

Participating the said training, which was handled by MSRS Safety, Health, and Environment Training Services, are representatives of IBULD Component, SES Unit, Governance and Geomapping Unit, and Monitoring and Evaluation Unit from the Regional Project Coordinating Offices of Regions 9, 10, 11, 12, and 13. Also invited are representatives from the Local Government Unit with on-going PRDP subprojects in their respective cities and municipalities. (Cyrus Seraspe)
