The Department of Agriculture-Philippine Rural Development Project (DA-PRDP) continues to bring development in the countryside with another groundbreaking of the construction of 11.92 kilometer Concreting of San Vicente-Mahapag Farm-to-Market Road (FMR) in Prosperidad-San Luis, Agusan del Sur amounting to P 197.91 million.

This project aims to increase the traffic count in the recipient municipalities by at least 60% and to reduce travel time of transporting their farm produce from farm to market by at least 50%.

Once the construction is done, it is expected that there will be reduction in average travel time when transporting cuplumps in nearby barangays to Crum Rubber Processing Facility (within 5 kilometer radius) from 20 minutes to 10 minutes.

The usual clamours of residents in these areas are the high transportation cost and post-harvest losses of their products every time they deliver to the market. They expressed high hopes that by having a well-paved road, their transportation cost will be reduced and lowered the percentage of post-harvest losses.

Local Government Unit also foresees that there will be increased in economic activities within the road influence area like traders coming in and traffic count increases.

This is a joint undertaking of the Department of Agriculture under the Philippine Rural Development Project and Provincial Government of Agusan del Sur, Municipality of Prosperidad and San Luis, Agusan del Sur.

Philippine Rural Development Project is a six-year project designed to establish an inclusive and market-oriented agri-fishery sector through strategic investments in priority commodity value chains.
